Chairman's message
Today, when I visit the site of the new Corinthia Hotel London, I see hundreds of workers swarming all over this magnificent building – preparing it for the day when it will shortly open to welcome its first guests. It reminds me of the time when we built the very first Corinthia hotel – in Malta during the 1960’s. The world has changed much since those days, but the lessons learnt from our early years have shaped the principles by which Corinthia builds and operates its hotels today.
Corinthia Hotel London will become the ninth member of the Corinthia family. To build and operate great hotels takes passion and ambition. To repeat this success again and again, over time, requires authenticity and sincerity. And to deliver caring service to our guests at the highest possible standards needs knowledge, experience, understanding and a fanatical attention to detail.
These are the qualities that distinguish a true craftsman from a jobbing apprentice – and to provide hospitality as we do is, indeed a craft – as old, challenging and inspirational as that of being a master stone-mason, goldsmith, painter or musician. Our mission is to provide our guests with this Craftsmanship of Care.
So what does this mean in Corinthia Hotel London?
It means carefully constructing an environment that feels special the moment our guests arrive. It means surrounding them with materials, chosen for their quiet quality and avoiding purposeless display. The Craftsmanship of Care will reveal itself in everything from the way a guest is welcomed, to the comfort of the room they are offered, to the thoughtfulness of the people who serve them.
Whilst others might strive to re-create the past, we at Corinthia are confident in our contemporary interpretation of the scale and style of a Grand Hotel. Our understanding of the needs of the modern traveller will result in a hotel experience which is perfect for today.
I am dedicating myself, personally and with great passion, to delivering to London a five-star, luxury hotel, which will be amongst the best-of-the-best in the world. The Corinthia Hotel London will be a true grand hotel for the 21st century.
